Cakes decorated with edible flowers will give off an elegant and feminine feeling. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, roses would immediately come to mind. To give the appearance of the petals more texture, crystallizing them would be a lovely alternative. It’s quite simple to do actually.
You will need organic roses since they will be placed onto a cake or dessert. Brush a thin, even layer of egg white on each petal and sprinkle granulated sugar on top. Let them dry overnight and keep them in an air-tight container for up to 10 days.
Place them on your choice of dessert and voilà; you’ve elevated your dessert to a new level :)
For this year’s Valentine’s Day, I’m featuring a heart cake. Components are rose red berry mousse, raspberry gelee, white chocolate mousse, almond sponge, rose raspberry glaze, with sugared rose petals & raspberries on top. Beautiful, right? It serves 2/3, $20. You may order this cake via Charming desserts; just fill out the order form ^^v.
